Assessesment of previous education

Assessing Foreign Education for Master’s Admission at VŠE

If you completed your university education outside the Czech Republic or Slovakia, your previous degree must be assessed as part of the admission process. This is necessary to confirm that your qualification meets the requirements for admission to a master’s degree program at the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE).

What is the Assessment?

Thanks to its Institutional Accreditation, VŠE can assess foreign higher education internally. This means that a general recognition of foreign education (nostrification) is usually not required unless the university has doubts about the level, content, or scope of your previous studies.

When is the Assessment Initiated?

The assessment process begins once you submit and pay for your application to a master’s program in the Integrated Study and Information System (InSIS). You may also request an earlier start through the Applicant Contact Centre in InSIS.

No additional fee is charged for the assessment if you are applying for an English-taught master’s program.

If you apply for multiple master’s programs, the foreign education assessment is completed only once and is valid for all your applications at the same level submitted within the same admission period.

You will receive an email when the process begins. A new section titled “Education Assessment” will appear in your InSIS application, where you will also find instructions and the payment option (if applicable).

1. An officially certified copy of your diploma, certificate, or other proof of higher education awarded by a foreign university.

2. An officially certified copy of your diploma supplement or an official transcript of records showing completed courses and examinations.

3. Official translations of the above documents into Czech or English (if the originals are not in one of these languages).

How to Submit the Documents

For documents issued in the Czech Republic or Slovakia:

• Submit them electronically in InSIS.

• They must be digitally signed or obtained through a guaranteed conversion.

• Upload them directly into the “Documents” section of your application.

For documents issued in other countries:

• If you do not have digital versions, send physical copies by post to the address below:

Czech Republic

You will receive an automatic notification by email when your documents are received and accepted.

Assessment Result

The result of the assessment will appear in your InSIS application.

• A positive result confirms that your foreign education meets the requirements for admission to master’s studies and is valid for all master’s programs at VŠE to which you applied before initiating the assessment.

• If needed (e.g. for visa applications), you can request an official confirmation of the assessment outcome.

If the result is negative due to doubts about your previous education, VŠE may ask you to provide general recognition of your degree (nostrification) in accordance with Section 48 of the Higher Education Act. If you fail to submit this, your application cannot be considered for admission.
