VŠE has received the prestigious AACSB accreditation
We are proud to announce that the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) is the first university in the Czech Republic to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), confirming its membership in a small group of elite global economic universities.
What is AACSB accreditation?
AACSB International (AACSB), founded in 1916, is the world’s largest alliance in the field of economics and management education. The alliance aims to connect educational institutions, students and businesses to help prepare the next generation of successful leaders. With an extensive membership base in more than 100 countries around the world, the AACSB can contribute to the development and growing influence of economic and management education and promote innovation in this area of higher education.
Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation also inspires innovative approaches to education around the world. The demands placed on accredited business schools are so high that less than 6% of universities offering management degree programmes worldwide hold AACSB accreditation. To date, this includes a total of 1,013 higher education institutions in 60 countries. In addition, another 194 institutions have earned AACSB specialized accreditation in accounting.
“AACSB accreditation is awarded to higher education institutions that have demonstrated exceptional quality in all areas of their operations, particularly in the areas of teaching, scholarship, curriculum development and student education,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, AACSB executive vice president and executive director of accreditation. “Congratulations to the VSE and Rector Petr Dvorak on achieving accreditation, and congratulations to the entire team involved in the challenging process that resulted in accreditation. We congratulate the management of the school and individual faculties, academic staff, administrative staff and students.”
Why is AACSB accreditation important?
“The efforts that the AACSB has made to achieve accreditation are a testament to the emphasis the University places on quality improvement. Obtaining this prestigious accreditation is important not only for the students, alumni and corporate partners of the VŠE, but also for the reputation of Czech higher education as a whole,” said Ms. Bryant. “Today’s students are the future leaders and the fact that VŠE has become part of a prestigious group of business schools that hold AACSB accreditation will have long-term positive benefits for their alma mater both domestically and globally.”
For our students, this accreditation also means the possibility of better employment in the international job market. Graduates of AACSB-accredited universities are sought after by the largest global companies that only hire from AACSB-accredited schools.
By earning the AACSB, the Faculty of Business Administration of the VŠE also receives the last accreditation it lacked for the Triple Crown Accreditation (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS). This is an important award for the best economics faculties in the world.
Acknowledgements
“We are proud to be the first university in the Czech Republic to receive the prestigious international accreditation of AACSB. This is an institutional accreditation that required the maximum long-term commitment of all six faculties of the Prague University of Economics and Business to meet demanding quality standards in the areas of teaching, research, student care and the entire process management. Many thanks to our British mentor Prof. Stephanie Morgan who guided us through the demanding accreditation process. Obtaining accreditation is not the end of our quest for continuous quality improvement. We see this prestigious accreditation as a commitment and motivation for further development of the VŠE. We believe that in the spirit of our motto we are succeeding in “going in the right direction”. The international accreditation will help us to increase our competitiveness on the international education market and will strengthen the prestige of the school in the Czech Republic and abroad”, emphasized the Rector of the VŠE doc. Petr Dvořák.
